New Year, New Vision

Friday, December 31, 2010

"Happy New Year"

No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say...

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It's the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we'll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of eighty-nine...

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Back to

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Through the advice of a blogger friend, Irene of "A new world of Living" I switched my blog back to blogspot. I found my blog "My Life in Holland" again. I was very happy to see my blog again. But I was wondering what happened to the domain name I bought for this blog. It was valid until April 2011. I cannot switch back to my old domain name because it requires me to buy again a domain name which I still have but does not work. As I have written in my previous post that I could not contact the webhosting company anymore because I forgot the company name where I bought the domain name. I do not know what to do. Maybe I will just leave it like this, back to

HELP!!!, my other Blog is Gone

Thursday, December 2, 2010

I could not find my other blog "MY LIFE IN HOLLAND" since a month ago. I tried to search on the net how to find it but I did not find any answer. The links to my blog are still on the search engines like GOOGLE, YAHOO, etc. but when I clicked the link, it displayed "SERVER cannot be FOUND". The blog is still on my dashboard. I can open, delete or edit my old posts but when I clicked view blog, the same problem will appear "server cannot be found". I cannot contact my webhost because I forgot the company. I bought the domain name for a year on April this year. So, it was not yet expired. I am so upset because I have opps to post.
Does anyone have any idea about this problem? Your suggestions and responses are highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Funny Monday... Will You Marry Me?

Monday, October 4, 2010

An elderly widow and widower were dating for about five years. The man finally decided to ask her to marry. She immediately said "yes".

The next morning when he awoke, he couldn't remember what her answer was! "Was she happy? I think so, wait, no, she looked at me funny..."

After about an hour of trying to remember to no avail, he got on the telephone and gave her a call. Embarrassed, he admitted that he didn't remember her answer to the marriage proposal.

"Oh", she said, "I'm so glad you called. I remembered saying 'yes' to someone, but I couldn't remember who it was."

Oh! do you want to get old? In this case I don't want. LOL!

Signup Now for Review Me

Saturday, October 2, 2010

I have just received my first payment from review Me. I thought this company is not good but they are reliable. I have registered my blog Me in the Dutch Society four months ago and received my first task last week. Thus, it took four months after I received my first opps. They pay via paypal the same as the other blog advertisings. The payments are transferred every first week of the month. So, I received my first payment today, first week of October. One task is available for me now. That is not much but at least I have something.
I registered one blog to see if it works. I will now add my other blogs. So, signup now!

Son: How much does it cost to get married, Dad?

Father: I don't know son, I'm still paying for it.

Son: Is it true? Dad, I heard that in ancient China, a man doesn't know his wife until he marries.

Father: That happens everywhere, son, everywhere!

A Blessed SundaY...A Recognition

Sunday, September 5, 2010

I do blog hopping not so often as before because I am now busy with my home study. I am now studying the Dutch Basic Knowledge in Business Calculation. Plan to take the exam in November and of course hope to pass the exam too. I do often check my emails and my blogs. I have just read the comments left on this blog. One of the commenters was Cen of Cens' World.

After reading her comment I had this unstoppable and burning impulse to visit her blog. She made a post recognizing my effort in following her blog. Isn't it worth recognizing this new online friend of mine? THANK YOU SO MUCH, Cen! for taking time to write a post about me. I was very happy and flattered. Nobody did it for me before. Eventhough I do not have enough time to write a post but I have to give a few minutes of my precious time to recognize and thank you for the efforts you did. It's really a BLESSED SUNDAY!

FuNnY MonDaY...Promoting An Office

Monday, August 30, 2010

A psychotherapist was having a roaring business since he started from scratch. So much so that he could now afford to have a proper shop banner advertising his wares. So he told a kid to paint the sign board for him; put it above his shop entrance.

But, instead of his business building up, it began to slacken. He had especially noticed the ladies shying away from his shop after reading the sign board. So he decided to check it out himself. Then he understood why !

The boy found a small wooden board so he had split the word into the 3 words :

Watch the Cameleon Changes Its Color

Friday, August 27, 2010

My son loves to watch animals. He aksed if I could find some wild animals on the net. So, I immediately searched them. He already saw crocodiles, tigers, otter and more. My son enjoyed watching this video. He found it amazing.
I can't imagine how internet works. We can find almost everything we are looking for.

How To Adjust The YouTube Screen In Your Post?

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

I am a little bit meticulous. Not bad. No, I just want to see everything is in order and in a right place. Hmm, I just want to see what I did is nice to look at.
I hop from one blog to another everyday and leave comments if I like the posts. I see youtube screen which transcends the post layout.
When you paste the embedded code into your post put it at edit HTML. You can see the sizes of the youtube screen like this:

Adjust the sizes to your desired size.
Look at my blog "My Life in Holland" the size of the youtube screen is: height = 344 and width = 425. "Me in the Dutch Society", the height = 390 and width = 480. If your blog has the same layout as mine then you can use these sizes.

How To Make A Margin Between Posts?

Monday, August 23, 2010

I have been experimenting how to adjust or put margin between my posts. It does'nt look nice if two posts are very close/far to each other. After some time of googling I found this code: margin-bottom:2.0em. Insert this code in the CSS

1. Open Layout
2. Make a back-up of your template
3. Click EDIT HTML
4. Find this part in the CSS: MAIN
5. Look for the word post

It looks like this:
.post {
margin:0px 0px 0px 0px;
padding; 0px 0px 0px 0px;
line-height: 1.6em;
text-aling: justify;

You can adjust the size maybe 1.6em, 1.8em and so forth.
That's it so easy if you know, but if you don't then you will get irritated like me and always asking why this doesn't work. Questions??? I'm here.

... a man/woman -

Don't let this happen to your relationship!

Thursday, August 19, 2010

by Elton John

There's a calm surrender
To the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling world
Can be turned away
An enchanted moment
And it sees me through
It's enough
For this restless warrior
Just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagebonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone
If they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope
Moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason
To the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager
Beats some time with yours

And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight?
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagebonds
Believe the very best

It's enough to make kings and vagebonds
Believe the very best

FuNnY MonDaY...Two Attorneys

Monday, August 16, 2010

Two attorneys went into a diner and ordered two drinks. Then they produced sandwiches from their briefcases and started to eat. The waiter became quite concerned and marched over and told them, "You can't eat your own sandwiches in here!" The attorneys looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and then exchanged sandwiches.

Wordpress Themes

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

I immediately turn on my computer when I arrive home. I sit most of my time behind the computer. I have visited few blogs this afternoon before I cooked our dinner. There are lots of bloggers who have wordpress themes. I like their themes compared to blogger templates. I am thinking of changing my template to wordpress theme. But what hinders me is that you cannot customize the themes. You can see many bloggers having the same template. Another thing which I do not like is that you have to fill in your email ad when leaving a comment eventhough your email will not be published.
What do you have for template?

Funny MonDay...Mistress or Wife?

Monday, August 9, 2010

A doctor, a lawyer and a manager were discussing the relative merits of having a wife or a mistress.

The lawyer says: "For sure a mistress is better. If you have a wife and want a divorce, it causes all sorts of legal problems."

The doctor says: "It's better to have a wife because the sense of security lowers your stress and is good for your health."

The manager says: "You're both wrong. It's best to have both so that when the wife thinks you're with the mistress and the mistress thinks you're with your wife -- you can go to the office and do some work.

Why Do Flamingos Sleep On One Leg?

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Last week we went to the zoo "Ouwehands Dierenpark". There are so many animals there like elephants, bear, deer and more. What really captured my attention was these flamingos. They stood on one leg and their head rested on their body. So, I made a research to answer my curiousity. Here is what I had found.
Flamingos often stand on one leg, the other tucked beneath the body. The reason for this behavior is not fully understood. Some suggest that the flamingo, like some other animals, has the ability to have half of its body go into a state of sleep, and when one side is rested, the flamingo will swap legs and then let the other half sleep, but this has not been proven. Recent research has indicated that standing on one leg may allow the birds to conserve more body heat, given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water. As well as standing in the water, flamingos may stamp their webbed feet in the mud to stir up food from the bottom.
Are there other animals which sleep on one leg? I am very curious if there are.

A BLessed SUNDAY...From A Distance by Bette Midler

From A Distance
by Bette Midler

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.

From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
and no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
no hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
They're the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.

From a distance you look like my friend,
even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
what all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
And it's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of every man.

It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us from a distance

Yes, GOD is always watching us.

Review Comments, I Have To

Thursday, July 29, 2010

I think I have to review the comments before they are published. I have received so many comment spam in my blog, "My Life in Holland".
The ability to moderate comments as they are added to your blog can be very handy if you want to catch any comment spam before it reaches your page or if you'd like control over the kind of messages people can leave on your blog. You can find the comment moderation setting on the Settings | Comments tab, along with all of the other comment settings.
I often receive comments written in characters. How could you leave a comment written in character where the blog is written in English? I do not understand.
When someone leaves a comment I usually visit his blog just to check for interesting posts. If there are, then I will follow him or even have an exchange links. When I checked the blogs written in characters, the blogs had no entries at all. It is really a spam. It is really irritating. From now on, I will moderate all the comments left in my blog.
Do you also receive comment spam?

FunnY MOnDay...Bob’s Girl

Monday, July 26, 2010

Bob is in the army. After 4 months of being in the army, his girlfriend sent him a letter saying she’d slept with 2 guys since he’d left and wanted to break-up and all the pictures he had of her sent back. So Bob did what any other American would do. He went around to all his army buddies and asked for pictures of girls they wouldn’t mind giving up. He then took all the pictures, some decent, some X-rated, and put them in a big envelope to send to his girlfriend with a note saying “I don’t remember you. Please remove your pictures and send the rest back.”

FuNnY MOndaY...I Lost EveryThinG

Three guys are fishing in the Caribbean. One guy says, "I had a terrible fire; lost everything. Now the insurance company is paying for everything and that's why I'm here."
The second guy says, "I had a terrible explosion; lost everything. Now the insurance company is paying for everything and that's why I'm here."
The third guy says, "What a coincidence. I had a terrible flood; lost everything. Now the insurance company is paying for everything and that's why I'm here."
The other guys turned to him with confusion and asked, "Flood? How do you start a flood?"

ButterFLieS for your BLog HeAdeR

Friday, July 16, 2010

We went to the Butterfly and Orchids Park last Wednesday. We took lots of pictures. I use the pictures on my blog. I have been changing my blog header in my other blogs. I like to see another changes in my blog. It is boring to see the same thing. It is very easy to make a blog header. You only need a picture size of 970 pixels. I have resized all the pictures below. I only need the butterflies, so I cut the unnecessary background.
Here are some pictures for your blog header, feel free to download/copy them.

Funny Monday...A Broken Finger

Monday, July 12, 2010

A young woman went to her doctor complaining of pain.
"Where are you hurting?" asked the doctor.
"You have to help me, I hurt all over", said the woman.
"What do you mean, all over?" asked the doctor, "be a little more specific."

The woman touched her right knee with her index finger and yelled, "Ow, that hurts." Then she touched her left cheek and again yelled, "Ouch! That hurts, too." Then she touched her right earlobe, "Ow, even THAT hurts", she cried.

The doctor checked her thoughtfully for a moment and told her her diagnosis, "You have a broken finger."

How to keep the FONTS and COLORS in the PosT the same?

I visit multiple blogs everyday. I see blog posts with different FONTS and COLORS. How come?
It is because you copy a text from the net. You copy not only the words but also the fonts and layout of the texts. If you have this in your post, advertisers can see that you copy something from the net.

There are two ways to remove the tags on copied texts from Word Documents or from the net.
1. Go to EDIT POST
Click EDIT HTML (post)
Remove all the tags.
Look at the sample below of copied texts from a Word Document, then you will understand what TAGS are.

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. (this is the text)

A text from the internet:
To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe. (this is the text)
I will remove the tags, the text will be like this:
"To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe."
So, the copied text is now the same as my post layout.

2.Click EDIT HTML (post) and paste the copied texts there. Then you do not need to remove the tags because the tags are not copied.
Try to make your post layout uniform and neat. Edit it.
